Hi ! I’m back from my works and study and now I continue writing again. Today I will tell you about one of the large event for our Thai otaku book lovers. It is Thailand book fair which is held at Queen Sirikit Convention Center for about a week.
As the name of the fair, It’s about books you can find a lot of book from many publisher that include the major manga and Japanese novel (include light novel too !)publishers in Thailand. In the past the publishers who join this event are :
-
NED (Shueisha, ASCII MEDIAWORKS, Shokakugan, etc.)
-
Siam Inter Comic (Shueisha, SQEN, Gentosha, etc.)
-
Bongkoch (Most of shoujo manga, Mag Garden, Kadokawa)
-
Bliss Publishing (Light Novel from Kadokawa, ASCII MEDIAWORKS, Kodansha)
FYI: In Thailand if you want to read the complete Shounen Jump Thai edition, you must buy NED’s BOOM magazine and Siam Inter Comic’s CKid because they always fight to buy the most popular series in Jump which usually the NED got them. The latest series NED bought and currently publishes is Bakuman which Obata of Death Note is illustrator.
This year the other two publishers also join this event.
-
Vibulkij (Shokakugan, Kodansha, SQEN)
Vibulkij is the oldest manga publisher in Thailand and only publishes manga. The others also publishes other kinds of book. -
Luckpim (Flex comic, Media Factory) The newest face in manga publishing. Before they found Luckpim. Luckpim team used to be illegal manga publisher. (They don’t buy the license to publish mangas.)
Lecture is over. Let’s see the photo from event.
Buy the novel and get the pillow. Idea from Japan ?
This is Jamsai booth which has a lot of people queue to buy the novel.
FYI. Jamsai is the major novel publisher and their novel sale is more than the sum of manga sale from any major publishers. Jamsai’s targets is from teen girl to office lady.
Pearl booth. They publish the translated English novels.
Bliss publishing booth.
Luckpim booth. The latest manga they published is Zero no Tsukaima.
What I bought this year are:
Light novels from Bliss Publishing
This year Bliss premium is Shana or Kino plastic bag. Very bad in my opinion. Two years ago they give the A0 size Shana poster. I very like it.
Premium from NED shoujo manga line. Hoshi no Utau purse and small clear file.
Last year NED began to enter shoujo manga section which Bongkoch is the major player. I thought it’s a good start for NED but it’s still a long road for them to fight more variation style manga form Bongkoch.
and the items that I never thought to buy. They’re
.
.
.
.
.
.
Complete set of CLAMP MIRACLE
I bought them because they’re very cheap (450 Baht each) and NED give one CLAMP T-shirt per box but because they have ten T-shirt to give me so they discount the last two box to 50 Baht each.
Thailand edition of CLAMP MIRACLE has the same chess figures as Japanese edition and the price is lower than Japan edition. (540 baht for Thailand edition and about 3000 baht for Japanese edition.)
Conclusion
This year I got a lot of premium from NED. (Sure! I bought from them a lot.) Bliss disappointed me this time. I also regret not to visit to Vibulkij booth which has very good promotion and discount. (Such as they give away the Negima drama CD for first 5 people who bought the volume 23th of Negima manga.)
Do you have the event which is similar to this one. Please share yours.
